ABOUT US

SEMSOAC

We are a group of women and men psychoanalysts, psychiatrists, psychologists and other professionals who for more than 35 years have dedicated themselves to private and / or institutional clinical practice, who meet for the study and practice of Socio-psychoanalysis based on the contributions originals of Erich Fromm's theory of social character. We founded the Civil Association in 1996 within the spirit of greater freedom, for the study and teaching of Socio-psychoanalysis, conducting the training of specialists and trying to maintain among its members and students the levels of human maturity and responsibility that are necessary for the exercise of the socio-psychoanalytic method and psychoanalytic psychotherapy with a social orientation.

Semblance

Erich Fromm was a German thinker, a psychoanalyst therapist, and an extraordinary human being who brought the life-giving richness of his approach, that is, the essential, not superficial, therapeutic relationship with the patient, the understanding of the patient as a whole (getting to really see the other) and the sociocultural contextualization of the experience; which is still valid at a time when psychoanalytic therapy is facing a contemporary reconsideration of its thinking and clinical practice. He calls it "the direct encounter with the other" not only with a patient but with anyone. Being able to really see the other allows us to stop judging, to gain a certain sense of union, of participation, of identity, of human solidarity. This is a very important experience and Fromm considers it to be the most satisfying, wonderful and life-giving experience that can occur between two people, when it is significant, because at that moment the patient no longer feels isolated in the midst of his suffering.

Fromm considers the social unconscious. If we truly want to understand the individual unconscious, it is necessary to understand "the social filter" as he has called it, which does not allow what exists to reach consciousness, for which we have to go beyond the frame of reference of our society or any social group. in question in its historical, economic and social context. Being critical and knowing the limitations of our culture and the guidelines of our society in its agents such as family, work or school, we can not allow ourselves to be fooled by what social duty requires. What in our society is outside of consciousness because it "does not suit" it, leads us to fully understand what is dissociated or repressed by the person with whom we work, the group from which it comes and the predominant social orientation.
